YMCA Camp Chief Ouray

Project Description

MA Studios designed the 14,000 square-foot Schlessman Family Camper Hub at Camp Chief Ouray, YMCA of the Rockies — the first public building in Grand County, Colorado, to achieve official LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, certification. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement, such as enhanced air quality, water quality, material life-cycle analysis, energy use, carbon footprint, and minimal construction waste. Among many other uses, the building's main purpose is a dining hall and large activity space for Camp Chief Ouray's overnight summer camp. The building officially opened to youth campers in spring 2024.
